Abiqua Adventures

Abiqua Adventures offer amazing opportunities for students to practice innovative thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence outside of the classroom. After-school activities are provided right on campus such as yoga, robotics, painting, baking, 3D animation, and drama to take their adventure and exploration to new heights!
Most adventures run 9-10 weeks, with cancelled classes during holiday weeks and special schedules. 

Spring 2024

Please Note: A snack will not be provided in any adventure class. Classes that are year long will have open registration during each season for the same price. If your student is not picked up within 15 minutes of the end of class, they will be charged for after care.

Cancellation Policy: If Abiqua needs to cancel a class you will not be charged. Each class requires a minimum number of 10* participants to begin.

Spring Crafts for Littles

Join Miss Shelbey and Miss Lisa in making unique spring inspired crafts! Kids will be utilizing their fine motor skills to explore different types of crafts. Students will also be creating a special mother’s day craft.

Legos for Littles

Legos for littles starts with the basics of engineering and creativity through Lego Bricks. Students will start with simple shapes, and then move on to create more complex structures. Students end the class with their own kit to take home!

Create a Book Adventure

Do you have trouble getting your child excited about reading? What if they created their own book they could read at bedtime?

Join Miss Tiffany for a create your own book adventure. Children will work on their writing and illustrating skills. By the end of the class they will have their own book to take home and read to their family.

Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons is a magical and thrilling team based roleplaying game. It uses the imagination and creativity of everyone involved to play. It is a game that relies on dramatic performances and stupendous moments to forge a memorable experience. Participants learn skills in mathematics, theater, and problem solving.

Join us as we embark on a new adventure of fun and excitement. *Aftercare is not available when this adventure ends

Creative Kicks (A Limited Adventure)

Join Miss Tiffany in this new adventure! Students will be customizing their own pair of white canvas sneakers! Over three weeks, students will spend time sketching a design, painting them and sealing them. Please provide a new pair of white canvas sneakers / shoes.

Lego Masters

Spring Yoga Flow

WiseMind Mindful Movement Class Integrating physical movement and social-emotional skills for resilience. Students are offered: Basic, simplified neuroscience related to emotion-regulation, simple movements based on common yoga shapes, games to promote movement, self-awareness, and social emotional learning through play, stories and art, body-mind tools to promote resilience.

Shea Bodine, BA (Spanish and Latin American Studies) is a former elementary classroom teacher and graduate of Yoga Calm’s Youth Instructor Program, Trauma Center’s Trauma Sensitive Yoga 20 hour workshop, and has completed Mindful Schools Mindfulness Fundamentals and Mindfulness for Educators Course. She contracts with WiseMind Educational Services to facilitate resilience coaching for students and staff in Salem-Keizer Public Schools.

Rock Band

Join a rock band led by Mr. Norman! Over the course of the class, students will learn 5-6 classic rock songs, culminating in a performance at a local venue. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!

Students will learn the fundamentals of instrument care and basic operation for: guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, amplifiers, and sound systems. They will also learn to rehearse individually and with a group of students.

Fingerboarding

A weekly fingerboard session with Pro Fingerboarder Mr. Norman! The class will focus on the following skills: setting up and maintaining a fingerboard, learning fundamental tricks (ollie, shuv it, kickflip, etc), learning to plan, film, edit, and release a short film and simple construction/DIY skills. Materials included!

24 Challenge

The 24 Challenge is a math competition held annually with Salem area schools. In the club, we’ll play math based games and practice for the competition. You can join just to play the math games, participating in the math competition is not required.

Welcome to Abiqua School Chess Club. We use chess as a tool for building community, connection and confidence. Our core values are focus, friends, and fun. Whether you are just learning how to play the game or preparing for your next tournament, all are welcome. We will have a chess lesson and instruction at the beginning of every class followed by free play.

Featuring regional and state tournaments at the end of the year through the Chess for Success program!
