Abiqua Summer Adventures

Looking for enriching and exciting summer camps in Salem, Oregon? Abiqua School's Summer Adventures offer themed weekly camps designed for children entering Preschool through 5th grade. 

Open to both current Abiqua families and the wider community, our camps provide a vibrant, hands-on experience that keeps kids active, engaged, and inspired all summer long!

Each camp is led by our experienced and enthusiastic instructors, who create a safe, supportive, and fun environment where kids can build friendships, explore new interests, and spark creativity. With a focus on curiosity, exploration, and innovation, Abiqua Summer Adventures extend learning beyond the classroom—encouraging kids to try new things and discover their passions.
Abiqua's Summer Adventures are designed for children in Preschool* - 5th grade. Weekly camps provide children with a unique and adventurous experience to keep them active and engaged throughout the summer! Class registration is based on the grade level students are entering in the 2026-2027 school year. *Campers must be at least 3 years old and potty-trained (No pull-ups).

Weekly Rate:
Preschool - 1st Grade $400 per week session.
2nd-5th Grade $450 per week session.

Includes:
Daily Lunch
Pizza lunch on Fridays
Two snacks per day
Before & After care
Camp merch
Take-home keepsakes & more!

Instruction Details:
Preschool - 1st grade: taught by Abiqua Childcare staff
2nd - 5th grade: taught by full-time Abiqua teachers

Field Trips:
2nd - 5th grade campers will be taken on a field trip with their teacher. Details will be sent the week before camp with any additional information.
Daily Schedule:
8:00-9:00 - Before Care is available
9:00-10:15 - Theme activites
10:15-11:00 - Snack and recess
11:00-12:00 - Theme activities
12:00-12:30 - Lunch
12:30-1:00 - Recess
1:00-2:15 - Theme activties
1:00-1:30 - Rest time (for littles)
2:15-2:45 - Snack and recess
2:45-3:00 - End of Day / Closing
3:00-5:00 - After Care available

Camps can be paid by credit card (3% fee), check or cash, or billed through family accounts (Enrolled students only).

Camps must be paid in full prior to the start of camp. After June 22, no refunds will be issued. Please contact the Business Office if you need to cancel due to extenuating circumstances or emergency. You may email us at accounting@abiqua.org.

The Human Body

  • Week 1: June 22 – 26

Prepare to explore the incredible machine that is YOU! Campers will learn about the human body, including brain function, heartbeats, breathing, and muscle movement through hands-on experiments, crafts, and games. Activities include building heart models and experiencing a “Five Senses Festival.” Campers will leave this week appreciating the uniqueness and power of their bodies.

Exploring Nature

  • Week 2: June 29 – July 3

Campers will spend the week exploring trails, spotting birds, learning about local plants, and enjoying hands-on time in the fresh air. By the end of the week, they’ll not only have a deeper appreciation for the natural world but also a collection of memories and newfound knowledge about the environment that surrounds them. With every step, campers will cultivate a sense of wonder and stewardship for the planet.

Forensic Discoveries

Get ready for an exciting science camp where young detectives will solve mysteries by examining clues, testing materials, and decoding messages. Campers will learn problem-solving skills using tools like fingerprinting and chromatography, all in a fun, teamwork-focused environment. No scary stuff here: just curiosity, creativity and teamwork as campers use evidence to solve a playful, kid-friendly mystery at the end of the week.

Urban Wildlife

  • Week 4: July 13 – 17

Campers will embark on an urban adventure to explore city wildlife, learning about various animals and plants that thrive in urban areas. Through activities and nature walks, they will appreciate local ecosystems, fostering a love for nature and curiosity. By the end of the week, campers will understand human-wildlife coexistence and habitat protection.

Dino camp

  • Week 5: July 20 – 24

Join us for Dino Camp! A fun, hands-on five-day program where kids become junior paleontologists through science, math, reading, writing, and art. Camp activities include fossil-making and a mock dino dig, habitat-building and diorama art, size comparisons and simple fraction games, read-alouds and short research projects.

Pathfinder: Adventures Around the World!

Embark on a global adventure! Campers will explore a new continent each day through challenges, crafts, games, and activities. With passports in hand, they discover cultures, wildlife, and exciting skills that spark curiosity and confidence. Join us for a summer journey your child will never forget!

Weird Science

Weird Science Summer Camp offers a week of exciting experiments that spark curiosity in children. Campers will engage in hands-on activities in chemistry, biology, and physics, promoting creativity and critical thinking. Campers will learn in a fun environment, culminating in a science show to showcase their skills. It’s an ideal setting for young scientists to explore their interests and make new friends.

All Things Sports

  • Week 8: Aug. 10 – 14

  • 2nd-5th Grade: Mr. Levandowski

Campers will enhance their sports skills, learn teamwork, and build confidence through various athletic activities. Each day focuses on different sports, promoting camaraderie and sportsmanship through friendly competitions and group games. The week ends with a mini Olympics day to showcase achievements.

Theater Camp

  • Week 9: Aug. 17 – 21

  • 2nd-5th Grade: Mr. Kintz

Theater Camp offers a week of activities introducing children to theater fundamentals. Campers engage in hands-on workshops in acting, improvisation, and stagecraft, boosting creativity and confidence. The camp concludes with a short performance, allowing young performers to showcase their skills and make new friends.
